La obra se concentra en representar alfombras persas de los siglos XVI y XVII. Son objetos que han estado presentes en la Naturaleza Muerta, principalmente dentro de la pintura holandesa del siglo XVII. El interés por este accesorio se da por su función simbólica dentro de la cultura nómada turcomana, contexto en el cual su objetivo era trasladarse con una gama de colores diferentes representando en pleno territorio desértico una especie de jardín de la realeza, un parque delimitado por muros donde la naturaleza estuviese bajo control humano, con motivos geométricos y diseños de flores.
The focus of this work is on sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Persian carpets. These are a well-established presence in still life, chiefly in seventeenth-century Dutch painting. Interest in this accessory arose out of their symbolic function in Turkmen nomad culture, where the idea was to be able to travel with a whole range of different colours, representing a kind of royal park in the middle of the desert, a walled garden where nature would be under human control, with geometric figures and floral designs.
